ABOUT US... Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that was founded in 1937 when five dedicated educators chartered what was then known as Central Bergen Teacher's Credit Union. The organization began to expand its field of membership in the mid 1980s under the sanction of the NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) to include a diverse mix of employee groups, and associations - and became known as Central Bergen Federal Credit Union. In addition to the more than 200 employee groups which the credit union has served, including some of Northern New Jersey’s largest hospitals, corporations and municipalities, the organization changed its charter to become a community credit union. Now, anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Bergen or Passaic county is eligible for membership. As a result of our charter change, Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union has rapidly expanded the membership base in Bergen and Passaic Counties. We remain committed to provide superior financial services to all our members. "We will continue to develop an alliance with our members throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. "We opened our state of the art branch and corporate office at 40 West Century Road, Paramus N.J. in 2006, and we are thrilled with the number members who regularly visit our new branch. We are extremely proud of the long term success of our Hackensack, NJ branch. The 359 Main Street location, continues to be a highly productive branch and one of the busiest branches in the area. Our long term strategic direction is to continue to evaluate branch sites in Bergen and Passaic counties and never loose sight of accomplishing our Mission, to be recognized by our members as a Premier Financial Institution. How to become part of our Credit Union Family Joining Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union gives you access to a long list of convenient, money-saving products and services. To join, you must submit a completed membership application and make an initial deposit of $25.00 or more. Your initial deposit represents your “share” of ownership. It is not a fee; it goes directly into your newly established Share (Savings) Account.
Providing low cost loans and high yield returns on savings, certificates of deposits and IRAs, along with excellent member service has long been our formula for success. As Greater Alliance we will also open a full-service branch in Paramus later this year with additional expansion plans in the near future to include Passaic County. Our expanded charter, along with our newest location in the heart of Paramus and other planned locations will add a level of convenience to our existing members and make us even more attractive to prospective members throughout the area. Once you become a member of the credit union, you remain a member for life, even if you change jobs, relocate, or retire. Plus, after you become a member, your immediate family members are automatically eligible to join.
