President’s Message – Spring 2018

Dear Valued Member:

Spring has sprung and we are 80 years strong! As we come out of what seems like a never ending winter season, the team at your credit union is more eager than ever to continue serving our membership as we have done for the past eight decades.

This time however, we have a new set of tools that definitely takes our various products and services to the next level. We have been busy this past winter season and are excited to launch more enhancements to our roster of products
and services you have come to love. In an effort to be there for you every step of the way, we just launched our secure online chat function within our online banking channel.

Now, as you go about managing your finances remotely, you can connect directly with one of our friendly and courteous Greater Alliance team members to help you via a secure chat connection. This is just another avenue to have our services at your disposal.

The economy is strong and in this rising rate environment, your credit union has managed to keep deposit rates competitive and loan rates still among the lowest in the industry. I encourage you to take advantage of them as you consider some of your seasonal financial decision– like that home improvement project that you’ve been planning on doing.

Our commitment to serving the ever evolving financial needs of our membership remains strong, and I am privileged to lead an enthusiastic and talented group of individuals, some of whom have been with us for decades. We have teammates celebrating milestone work anniversaries this year. Antonietta “Toni” Tartaglione, Executive Assistant, is celebrating 40 years of unrivalled dedication. While Toni is not one of our front line staff, it doesn’t stop her from helping members that she’s personally assisted over the past years. Also celebrating milestone anniversaries at 30 years are Ana Suarez, Business Development Officer and Thomasina Franklin, one of our most seasoned Member Services Representatives. If you work for any one of our affiliated groups, chances are you’ve spoken to Ana. If you use our Hackensack branch, there’s a great chance that Tommie had helped you with your financial needs.

This kind of tenure is fairly unique in our industry since each member of our team is considered a family member who shares the same passion in delivering personalized and a unique way of providing financial services to our membership.

On behalf of our Board Members, Volunteers and our entire Credit Union Family, we would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide you and your family members, uniquely tailored products and services to help you manage your financial health.

Sincerely,

Glenn Guinto

Greater Alliance Helps Restock Local Food Pantries for 2018

Hoping to restock food pantries for 2018, employees and members at Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union have been working together. Beginning on Nov. 1, 2017, food collection bins were placed at each branch. All were welcome to donate non perishable items through the end of December.

“Our members and employees never cease to amaze me,” said Glenn Guinto, Greater Alliance FCU CEO. “When we see a need in the community, they are always eager to contribute.”

During the first week in January, Greater Alliance employees delivered the collected food. All food collected from the Paramus branch was brought to the Table of Plenty food pantry at Annunciation Church in Paramus. The food collected at the Hackensack branch was donated to the Center for Food Action. The food collected at the Paterson branch was brought to CUMAC, feeding people, changing lives.

Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union plans to continue their community outreach in 2018 by developing an employee volunteer program.

President’s Message 2018

Dear Valued Member:

2017 was a productive year for your credit union. It marks our 80th Anniversary, and we celebrated it the only way we know how – by rewarding you, our members, with significant enhancements to our products and services. Now you can enjoy even more convenience. I hope you share the excitement as you navigate your new and enhanced Mobile Banking app or improved Online Banking experience. Remote delivery channels, including our online account opening and loan application, have become more user-friendly and convenient than ever.

Members can now apply for a loan online with the ease and security of electronic signatures. You can complete your loan application using your mobile phone, tablet or laptop at your convenience, without setting foot in the branch. We’re also leveraging the power of technology to create an omni-channel experience whether you’re online or at a branch. All channels offer you the same suite of products to access anytime, from anywhere. Of course, we believe remote delivery conveniences will never match the warmth and welcoming atmosphere you receive when you visit our branches. Therefore, we’ll continue to invest in training and tools, so staff can deliver the best possible service experience.

If you have time, visit our lobbies and experience for yourself the unique service that only our staff can provide. While we’re on the subject of time, let’s talk about our 80th Anniversary. We’re proud and honored to be the stewards of your credit union, here to execute our time honored tradition of service excellence.

Just as our predecessors, we will continue to carry out our mission, vision and core values. Our philosophy of “People Helping People” has never been stronger as we head into 2018. On behalf of our Board of Directors, volunteers and staff, I’d like to wish you and yours a GREATER 2018!

Thank You for a Being Part of the Greater Alliance Family

Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union recently celebrated 80 years serving the community. To celebrate this milestone, GAFCU gave back to its members with a week-long celebration. Each day, the three branches put out treats for the members to enjoy as well as scratch offs where they could win $5, $10 or $20 and there were even some big prizes in the mix like an Apple watch, Apple TV or a Kindle Fire HD 8.

“We pride ourselves on treating our members like family,” said Glenn Guinto, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union. “We have a strong sense of community, bringing our members and employees together to work toward common goals.”

Members and employees certainly work together on financial needs but they can also be seen out in the community doing food drives, breast cancer walks, toy drives and so much more.

The Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union was founded 80 years ago by five educators from Hackensack.  What was once a small teachers federal credit union has grown into a profitable financial institution with close to $200 million in assets.  The success of Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union can be directly attributed to the consistent service provided and the fact that the company has remained true to their mission, vision and the established core values from 80 years ago. GAFCU is committed to providing the highest quality financial services and making a positive difference in the financial lives of the members and the community as a whole.

“Service, integrity, innovation and care are the foundation of The Greater Alliance Federal Credit Union,” said Guinto.

Account Update Dec., 1st

We have lowered our minimum balance requirement from $175 to $100 for all accounts that previously had a $175 minimum balance requirement, such as our primary savings, business savings and some of our checking accounts. These new changes will help keep more funds in your pocket to help you take care of other important things in your life.

We are also simplifying our checking accounts, whereby we will only be offering Easy Checking, The Edge Checking, Fresh Start Checking and Greater Business Checking.  Any member who currently has other checking accounts will continue to enjoy the benefits and dividends. However, new members will not be eligible to open Preferred Checking, Greater Checking and Plus Checking.

While minimum balance requirements have decreased the minimum balance fee has increased. Please check the updated Fee Schedule for full details regarding all the new changes.
